Videos: First, let’s talk about videos. Think about it! How many videos do you watch every day on Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram? Probably several. Why not add a few from wedding entertainers to your watch list?
One of the biggest ways to learn about the style, energy, and vibe of an entertainment company is through the various videos they’ve posted from past events. As a caveat to this, we would recommend checking out their professionally recorded videos and not just something from someone’s phone. A vendor who takes the time to get a professionally shot video is really invested in putting their best foot forward. Plus, an
Reviews: Does your entertainment company have a profile on Wedding Wire, The Knot, Google Page or Facebook? If they do, then a seasoned company will have actual unbiased reviews from previous clients.
When reading those reviews remember to look for comments related to their communication skills, planning processes, performances, musical talent, and overall execution at events. Be sure to take time to read through the reviews to get a sense of how clients were treated, and how those clients felt about the planning process and overall experience.
Does someone from the Entertainment company reply to client reviews? While not always an indication, replies can often show a DJ company’s proactive stance on receiving and utilizing feedback to better themselves.
Preferred Vendor: Is your entertainer a preferred vendor at your venue of choice! If so, we always recommend taking the venue’s recommendation as that entertainment company will already know your space, and how to navigate the overall setup. Admittedly, that preferred vendor may not always be the right fit for you, and that is totally fine. That being said, you should always make sure that your chosen vendor, especially if they aren’t on the preferred vendor list, takes the time time to learn about the venue.
Social Media: Does your DJ or Band have a presence on social media? If so, are they actively engaged via regular posts? When looking at entertainment companies, you should ensure that their Facebook or Instagram pages are fun, project the right energy, and are engaging. Make sure that their posts appeal to you and give you at least a taste of what you’re looking for at your event or wedding reception.
A great presence on social media will give you insight into an entertainment company’s experience. Instagram stories are
Mixes: This segment applies to DJ’s more than bands, as a band usually just covers various songs. As an event or wedding DJ, one of the most important skill-sets is beat-mixing with smooth transitions. When searching for a DJ, check their website or mixlcoud page for sample mixes. Some of these mixes may not be tunes you would like played at your wedding, but they will give you an idea into their creativity when it comes to mixing songs, and seamless transitions between tunes.
Overall you want to make sure that the entertainment company your considering is consistent across all these areas. Doing that will ensure that your DJ or entertainer is a professional, and a better fit for your event. If we can help you in any way, please contact us here. 2019 is going to be awesome!
